It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (So Far)
Well, we've officially been here on our own for a week, and I guess it's true about the weather in Philly. It has been perfect here. We spent an hour at a park today, and have taken many walks around our area. Philadelphia is full of fun places to say. We live in an area called Manayunk, which is near Conshohocken, the Wissahickon gorge, and Roxborough. I just like saying these places as much as possible.
My parents left here a week ago, and I think we've just finally gotten as much done in that week as in the 3+ days that my parents were here. They did so much while they were here - it was amazing. My dad helped engineer the process of pushing our couch through the window since we couldn't get it through the stairs. We've got pretty much everything done here at our apartment. We've got all of our furniture up, built, and in place, and are just lacking on a little bit of organization with all of the random stuff that we have.
We've managed pretty well on our own so far. I've only locked us out of our apartment once, but we were able to break in to our own place by removing the door. You know you are safe when it takes less than 10 minutes to break into your own apartment. We're getting more accustomed to the area. With only a couple more hour long waits in line at the DMV, we'll be official members of the Pennsylvania world. We haven't become too integrated into our community yet. We only know about 3 people so far, our upstairs neighbors who moved in the weekend after us and the grocery guy across the street - Ravi. I'm still looking for a job, and have had a couple of interviews, and I hope to be receiving one offer relatively soon. I've been lucky enough to get to explore the area during these interviews. Libby hasn't quite had that luck. With the one car situation we've got going, she's been the one stuck in the apartment all day. Needless to say she's excited to start orientation on Monday.
We took the train downtown on Thursday so that we could walk around a bit and so that Libby could get used to her daily transit, and had a fun time walking around hanging out in the downtown parks. Philadelphia is the greenest city in the US - with more areas devoted for parks than anywhere else. We even have a park (Fairmount Park) that is a bigger inner city park than Central Park in New York.
Libby's Philly accent isn't quite as far along as mine, but I'm sure with time it will get there. It's pretty easy to do - just talk like Sylvester Stallone. We're going downtown again tonight. Maybe Libby will have a little more luck learning the accent then... :-)

(Libby and I plan on keeping everyone up to date on how we're doing here in Philly with a blog, so keep checking this blog to check in on us. We'll follow this blog with another with some pictures of the apartment soon. Feel free to leave us comments, email us, and keep us as up to date on your lives as we are going to with ours.)
